Dr. Harmony Rose Murphy
Biographical Information
Dr. Harmony Murphy has served as an Assistant Professor of Vocal Music at several universities and currently teaches private voice, clarinet, piano, and conducting. Murphy holds a Doctorate of Arts in Music in Choral Conducting and Voice Performance from Ball State University completing a dissertation titled Music of the California Missions: A Critical Look at the Misa de Cataluña. She also holds a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from Notre Dame de Namur University, and Masters in Choral Conducting from California State University, Los Angeles.
Dr. Murphy is dedicated to transcribing and reviving anonymous California mission masses through research, presentation, and publication as well as performance. She premiered her edition of the Misa de Cataluña in March of 2013 and then sang the same work on tour to Southern California in May 2013. Most recently she toured to Mission Santa Barbara with the Reedley College Choir to perform the Misa Quarto Tuono.
