Church Images and History

The church at

Mission San Jose

The Mission church was completely destroyed in the earthquake of 1868 and reconstructed in its entirety in the 1980s. The interior was designed by principal investigator, art restoration craftsman and conservator, Sir Richard Menn, from inventories done in the 1840's.

Only a few original items survived the earthquake and are now located in the reconstructed church.
