Photography At Mission San Jose

located in Fremont, California

Photography is encouraged at historic Old Mission San Jose. You do not need a permit if pictures are taken by family or friends without compensation. However, please follow these rules:

  1. No flash photography is allowed in the museum and in the church as it damages paintings and fabrics.

  2. Out of respect for Mission's religious and historical character, your photographs may not depict weapons, sorcery, demons, evil spirits or anything contrary, opposing, and undermining the Christian Faith.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY

A permit is required for professional photography. A professional photographer is someone who receives compensation for taking pictures, takes posed photographs, uses the photographs for business purposes, or employs the use of equipment such as tripods, lights, reflector shields. Drones are not permitted on or near Mission property.

Photography is not permitted inside the Mission Church, unless your religious service (wedding, quinceanera, baptism) is celebrated there. Contact your religious service coordinator.

Additional time is $50 per two hour segment. Upon receipt of donation, a confirmation email will be sent to the applicant which is your permit.
